Angkor Wat Temple
This temple complex is considered to be one of the most awe-inspiring architectural achievements in human history. Built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II covering over 400 acres and surrounded by a 5 km moat, making it the largest religious monument in the world.
It is still an active site of Theravada Buddhist worship today and is a UNESCO World heritage site designated in 1992.
This is a must see for any visitor to Cambodia. We visited the site in 2013. Note – it is a lengthy walk into the site passing numerous hawkers and trinket sellers.
